Today’s Reading: Isaiah 9:1-7
Today’s Verse: The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined. Isaiah 9:2 KJV
Everyone loves to hear good news.
It is positive, encouraging, uplifting, and desirable.
In Christianity, the gospel has brought us good news.
The first bit of “good news” came with the announcement of Jesus’ birth.
And at Christmas we take the time to celebrate the good news that Christ has come to us.
Acknowledging that no matter where we are, He had come to save us all.
He invaded our prison of darkness with His light.
A light that lifts our load of sorrow and guilt.
It even lifts the feeling of loneliness that weighs us down.
His wonderful birth was just the beginning of all the blessings He would bring.
The changes that would come to all who believed.
The Prophet Isaiah said, “The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light [and] they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined” (Isaiah 9:2 KJV).
It is the same light that shepherds saw shining through the darkness.
That when they saw the light their lives were changed.
They left believing and telling others about the birth.
So, no matter where today find us, remember the birth of Jesus.
His birth filled our dark world with His joy and light.
May His light continue to shine in Your life.
