Today’s Reading: Isaiah 40
Today’s Verse: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31 KJV
Patiently waiting. Something we all need to work on.
It means to remain in a state of expectation. To anticipate something without complaining. Without frustration. Not in a rush to receive something. We maintain a calm, composed, and hopeful attitude.
We do this despite delays or difficulties.
Isaiah 40 draws attention to this. It speaks about God’s promise of comfort and restoration. Granting us His deliverance. A renewed strength.
Today’s verse talks about those who trust and patiently wait for God. How we will receive a fresh anointing. One that brings strength. That we will be lifted above our circumstances.
We must trust and depend on His faithfulness.
The more that we do this, the more our strength is renewed. We receive spiritual, physical, and emotional power. Everything we need to overcome our challenges.
Eagles. They are a symbol of freedom. A symbol of strength. A symbol of God’s powerful care. When we “mount up with wings as eagles,” we are rising above life’s difficulties. We are defeating any challenges with God’s help.
Our promise to “run and not be weary” and “walk and not faint.” It means we understand the effort required. That our journey of faith can have difficult moments. That we know it is powered by God’s strength.
Our encouragement to keep pressing on.
In the strength of Divine grace our souls shall ascend above the world.
We will follow God’s commandments cheerfully.
It is not good to have evil thoughts rise in our minds. Even worse is to turn them into evil words.
We must watch against unbelief, pride, and self-confidence.
Because if we keep walking in our own strength, we will faint. We will fall.
When we keep our hopes in Heaven, we will be carried above all difficulties.
We will be able to get the prize of our high calling, which is in Christ.
As believers, no matter what we are going through, we know that we can look towards Heaven.
Remembering that, “they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength.”
He is where our greatest help comes from.
Do not give up. Keep encouraging yourself.
God has not forgotten about us. He is able. He cares for us.
We can wait on the promises of God to be fulfilled in our lives.
Wait on Him. Trust and believe. He will work things out in our favor.
Where God had begun the work of grace, He will perfect it.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, the more we wait on You for guidance, the better we become. You provide us with the strength and the power we need to endure. Help us to keep our human weaknesses from prevailing in our lives. Renew a right spirit in us daily. Help us to build our emotional and physical strength too. We know we can only do it if we keep our hope and trust in You. Thank You for the strength You give us to walk through each day without becoming faint and giving up. Thank You for strengthening our bodies, minds, and spirits. May Your peace continue to fill our hearts in every situation.
In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen
