Amazing Life: The Best Because He Died for Us

Read: Romans 5:1-11

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:8 KJV

I was reading a devotional in which there was a man who was being drafted during the American Civil War.

He was a farmer in New York, his wife had passed away and he was the sole support for his young children.

How there was an unmarried man, who had no children, came to his house and offered to go to war on his behalf.

He accepted the offer, for the sake of his children.

This generous friend then marched off to battle.

Unfortunately, it was in his first encounter with the troop they were fighting that he was shot and killed.

When the word reached the farmer of his death, he went to the battle spot and brought back his body.

In the village churchyard is where he laid his friend to rest.

He had three words engraved on the headstone. It read:

HE DIED FOR ME

We are fighting a battle everyday of our lives.

It is great to know the truth of the gospel.

To be able to tell the story of how Jesus gave His life for us while we were His enemies (Romans 5:8-10 KJV).

The effects of His actions were amazing.

Think about how Christ sacrificed His life for us while we were yet enemies.

Think about how much more He will do for us now that we have given our lives to Him and He has made us His friend.

It is a blessing to know that He will keep us from God’s wrath against sin (Romans 8:9 KJV),

That He will also give us everything we need (Romans 8:32 KJV).

Jesus died and took our place.

All so we could live a peaceful life.

It is a wonderful thing to be able to say, “He Died For Me!”

A WORD OF PRAYER

Savior, to You we give love and praise daily. Sin could have found a place in our hearts. Causing us more harm than good. You came and died to save us, not just in our sins, but from our sins. We are forever grateful for how You gave Your life for us. For keeping us from the punishment our Father could bestow upon us. We are standing firm on the battlegrounds to defeat sin. With You we know we will win. Thank You for all that You have done and will do in our lives.

In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
