Today’s Reading: James 1:5-9
Today’s Verse: Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. Joshua 1:9 KJV
To have courage means we have the ability to do something that frightens us.
To find strength in the face of pain or grief.
The Bible’s definition of courage is important. Courage is an essential quality. As believers it helps us to navigate through the challenges of life.
Biblical courage is not he absence of fear. It shows our willingness to act in obedience to God’s calling. According to His purpose. Relying on His strength and guidance.
“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest” (Joshua 1:9 KJV).
This verse is part of God’s charge to Joshua. Joshua was about to take the position Moses held. It speaks to God’s command to be strong and courageous. It also contains the assurance that God would be with him everywhere he went.
The Father has given us many passages regarding our need for courage.
Psalms 31:24 KJV says, “Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD.”
We can pray for courage daily. Bringing all our fears, anxieties, and concerns to Him. Asking Him to give us the strength and courage to face any challenges. Putting our trust in His power.
James 1:12 tells us, “Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.”
Keep the faith. No matter what we are going through. Know that God is refining our character and strengthening us.
Surrender to God’s plan.
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV).
Let us seek God’s presence. Let us trust in His strength. Let us walk boldly in obedience. Knowing that no matter what we face in life, He is with us.
A WORD OF PRAYER
The Word tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:7, that “we walk by faith, not by sight.” Today, Father, we pray for the courage to step out in faith. To have the courage to face any challenges we may face. To have the courage to share the Gospel boldly. We want to trust in Your plans and Your timing. Thank You for letting Your Spirit strengthen and guide us. Encouraging us in every part of our Christian walk.
In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen
