A Devoted Heart Always Leads to a Fascinating Life

Today’s Reading: Proverbs 4:20-27

Today’s Verse: Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. Proverbs 4:23 KJV

When we hear the word “heart,” we think of the organ in our bodies that pumps blood throughout our circulatory system. It pumps at a rate of 70-75 beats per minute.

A healthy heart can do amazing things. But we also know that if our hearts stops beating, our whole body shuts down.

The same could be about our “spiritual heart.”

In the Bible, it means mind, soul, and spirit. The entire emotional nature and understanding of mankind.

It is the “command center” of our life.

That is why when we read, “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life” (Proverbs 4:23 KJV), it makes sense. A lot of sense.

But we know that it can be difficult advice to keep.

All through our lives there will be things that make a demand on our time and energy. Things that require our immediate attention. We are constantly rushing to get things done.

We all know it can take a toll on our bodies.

In comparison, our taking time to hear God’s Word and to do what it says may not speak quite as loudly.

We hear what He is saying, but neglect to give it our immediate attention.

We may not notice the consequences of neglect right away. But over time it may give way to a spiritual heart attack.

Physical and Spiritual heart attacks can be avoided.

There is, in the word of God, a proper remedy for all diseases of the soul. Words that will keep our hearts with all diligence.

He has told us, “Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live” (Proverbs 4:4 KJV).

We must set a strict guard upon our souls. We must keep our hearts from getting hurt, and getting hurt.

The only way we will be able to stay spiritually fit is to consult the Great Physician.

The Father wants us to stay healthy in our minds, bodies, and souls.

He wants us to live an abundant life.

Knowing that when this life is over, we have an even greater one waiting for us.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Lord, forgive our past, and enable us to follow You more closely for the time to come. We are thankful for the Father giving us the Word as our guide. We know we will always need Your help not to neglect it. We want to align our hearts with You every day. Thank You for taking our hearts and our hands. For showing us sweet love. For letting us grow more like You day by day. There is none like You. No one else can touch our hearts like You do. Thank You Savior.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
