Heartfelt Smiles Actually Skyrocket Us to the Greatest Moments

Read: Proverbs 15:10-16 / Psalms 4

A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken. Proverbs 15:13 KJV

It is no secret that our facial expressions say a lot about what we are feeling.

It most times tells how our day is going.

It shows what we are feeling in our hearts.

There have been many studies that show how the act of smiling can have an effect on our lives.

How it definitely has an effect on our feelings and moods.

But we all know that before any research was ever done, the Father had already told us how our emotions play a role in our lives.

That it plays a great part in our salvation.

He has told us that, “A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken” (Proverbs 15:13 KJV).

That smiling is not the only thing we can do to change how we are feeling.

In Psalms 4, we see many actions we can take when troubled or need a way to keep our atmosphere bright.

In times when our souls are in distress, we can ask the Lord for relief and mercy (Psalms 4:1 KJV).

We can always take comfort in knowing we are among those who are favored by Him and that He hears us when we call (Psalms 4:3 KJV).

Always being able to take the time to acknowledge our feelings and be quiet before Him (Psalms 4:4 KJV).

Making the sacrifice of doing what is right and putting our trust in Him (Psalms 4:5 KJV).

Trusting in Him to give us overflowing gladness (Psalms 4:7 KJV).

Most of all knowing that we can rest in the assurance of His peace and safety (Psalms 4:8 KJV).

Let us not be one with a gloomy, impatient, unthankful spirit.

One that springs from pride and an undue attachment to worldly things.

To anything that makes us uneasy about ourselves and to others.

May we never forget that even in our lowest moments, we can look to the Father.

A heart touched by grace is a testimony that is shown by the smile on our faces.

Showing that in the Lord we can always find peace and inner gladness.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, a smile can reduce the pain we feel. It can lighten our despair. But we know when we put our trust in You, we will find the inner peace we need. We find a joy that is beyond compare. A heart touched by Your grace will always be able to go through the day with peace and inner gladness. Thank You Father for being there for us.

In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
