Free Yourself

And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. Acts 16:25 KJV

History tells us about many things that have occurred in the world.

There has been many instances in which people have been discriminated against, beaten and jailed based on their race or religious belief.

When we look at Acts 16, Paul and Silas found themselves in a difficult place when they were imprisoned for telling others about Jesus.

Despite what they were going through, it did not cause them to lose faith.

Even in the midnight hours, Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God (V.25).

Their worship was bold and made it possible to continue to talk about Jesus.

They shared the Word of the Lord with jailers and to all the others in the house (v.32).

And suddenly there was a great earthquake (v.26),

It was so great that the foundations of the prison were shaken. So much so, that the prison doors were opened and the bands that were on the prisoners were loosened.

Although they did not leave the prison, they were free (V.28).

Showing us that our prayers and songs of praise will free us from anything that has us in bondage.

The compassion of God to His suffering servants are neither few nor small.

He is with us no matter the situation.

We hopefully will not find ourselves in the same situation they were in, but each of us will face some uncomfortable situations.

And when we do, we must remember our strength comes from our faithful God.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Lord, may there be a song in our hearts that will honor You. A song that will give us the boldness to speak for You, even in the midst of our troubles. Thank You Lord.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
