Read: Malachi 1:6-14
A son honoureth his father, and a servant his master: if then I be a father, where is mine honour? and if I be a master, where is my fear? saith the LORD of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name. And ye say, Wherein have we despised thy name?
Malachi 1:6 KJV
There have been articles that tell us about the different things that take over our lives.
Electronics is one such thing.
Many can say they have a lot of equipment in their homes.
They have TVs in most of their rooms.
VCR’s, CDs, and DVD players and a host of other things.
Until it is brought to our attention, we fail to realize how they play a big part in our everyday lives.
In this passage of Malachi, the Lord spoke to the people to the people.
He was telling them about their lack of awareness of how much of the world’s values they were accumulating.
About the many things they were allowing to consume their lives, causing them to dishonor Him.
When questioned, they did not remember that they had been offering sacrifices of animals that were blind, lame, sic or stolen.
They did not see that this insulted the Lord.
Just like the people of Malachi, we need to consider that we all have some questionable manners in our lives as well.
We can become careless in following the Father’s instructions.
Forgetting that our relationship with Him, as our Father and Master, requires us to fear and honor Him.
Our sins will ruin us if we try to fight the battles of life on our own.
Those are the times we need to ask the Savior to search us, because He knows our hearts.
To ask Him, “Wherein have we despised thy name?” (Malachi 1:6 KJV).
To let Him help us see what we are doing wrong.
To see all the things that will hurt us and our relationship with Him.
The Father desires that we learn to think like Christ and not like the world.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we know the world is filled with many temptations. When You see it happening You never fail to speak to us. Asking us questions that bring to light what we need to change in our lives. Helping us to recognize when we begin to compromise our relationship with You. We know that in You we find strength. A strength that will always help us do what is right and true. Thank You for always questioning and being there for us.
In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
