Working As One

Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them. And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith. Acts 6:6,7 KJV

All over the world, there are changes occurring in communities.

People of all denominations and cultures are arriving.

This change leads to a new growth in area churches.

With any growth there will be challenges.

Church members must learn how to welcome newcomers as they adjust to a new place and different worship styles.

Making someone feel welcomed and treating them the way we want to be treated can prevent any misunderstandings and disagreements.

We all have been introduced to the Lord in different ways.

There is no reason that our differences could not be expressed in a positive way, leading to a positive result.

The disciples had to be of one accord.

It was now that they were coming together with another culture, they had to face the reality that there were some differences.

The apostles were dealing with spreading the word of God, and knew they could not handle this situation, so they chose seven men to handle it.

They were examples of how our dedication and faithfulness in little and unrecognized assignments in the kingdom of God can make a way for a higher calling.

A higher calling that would lead to opportunities to be used of God in greater assignments

They had been chosen because the apostles felt they would better understand the problem and be able to help find a solution to it.

They were members of the group that felt they were being neglected.

The apostles prayed over them. Filling them with the gifts and graces of the Holy Ghost.

They knew they would do things according to God’s plans.

The same holds true with the ministers and members of churches today. We that believe are all disciples called to do the Lord’s work.

Because of this, and their faith in the Word, the church developed well.

Changes and growth bring challenges.

We meet up with many personalities that cross our traditional boundaries.

When it comes to the Word, the Lord wants us all to be on the same page.

As we seek the Holy Spirit’s guidance and the spreading of the Word increases, the number of disciples will multiply.

We are His disciples, and we must be obedient to the faith.

A WORD OF PRAYER

We are all the servants of the Lord. Our jobs and vocations are holy and they are used by God to share God’s love and grace and to increase God’s kingdom. Coming together as one is just the beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success. Thank You Lord.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
