A treasure is a valuable or precious possession of any kind. It has a value that causes it to be carefully kept.
Spiritually the Word tells us that our treasure is in Jesus.
Jesus is a figure of the true eternal riches bestowed unto man. A treasure worth more than anything the earth has to offer.
He has value and must be carefully kept.
Paul tells us about the truth of Jesus’s life, death and resurrection.
How he is a treasure. A treasure that is to be carried about in the weak humanity of God’s people.
His treasure enables us to find the ability to continue in our service to Him, despite anything else occurring in our lives.
We need to take our attention away from the things which are seen. To cease from trying to seek worldly advantages. To not let the present distresses cause us fear.
Let us give diligence to make our future happiness sure, by letting the excellency of the power of God be in control.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, Thank You for providing this earthen vessel with the gospel treasure we need to survive. For allowing us to reveal the life-giving promises of salvation, so others will come to know You too.
