Charitable Love

Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil. 1 Corinthians 13:4-5 KJV

Charity comes in many forms.

It is most often thought of as an organization set up to provide help and raise money for those in need.

It is also the voluntary giving of help, typically in the form of money.

But doing it God’s way, being generous to your family first before helping others, is where it starts.

Doing it this way, we are more so able to be charitable to others in need.

When we do this, we exhibit the highest form of love.

A love signified by the reciprocal love God shows us and we, ourselves should show others.

It’s a love that manifests itself unselfishly.

In this section, Paul was showing the Corinthians that their conduct did not manifest God’s image of what charity should be.

That Charity was the way to defy the enemy of selfishness; to defy the desire or the seeking of their own praises, honours, profits, or pleasures.

A way for all of us to know that, charitable love, our faith in God, is His way to bring us to the position of being born again from a previous state of separation from Him.

A way to show that we don’t have to give up all we love for ourselves, but that there is even greater pleasure in being there for the ones we love and those in need.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Lord, we know that charity comes in many forms.  Help us to remember that the first form is in loving You, the way You love us, and giving according to Your Word.  That all our charitable ways reflects this love to our families and to those in need. So they may see the abundance of love You project through us. Charitable love is the way.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen
