Read: Mark 6:30-44 / Luke 9:1-10
And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat. Mark 6:31 KJV
Daily our plates can be full.
We have a multitude of things we desire to accomplish.
But there is no way that we will get it all done.
Those are the times we do all we can.
Knowing when it is time to sit back and relax.
No one can do their best work when they are tired and stressed.
Even when the disciples returned from a preaching mission that required all their effort and strength, the Master recognized their need for rest.
“And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat” (Mark 6:31 KJV).
He invited them to come with Him to a quiet place where they could be refreshed.
The Savior knows there will always be a time to rest.
It is good to know that He provides rest for those that are tired, and refuge for those that are terrified.
To sleep well is a priority.
It is one of the ways to help us mentally and physically.
But there are also other positive forms of recreation available to help us maintain a well-balanced godly life.
Hobbies and vacations are always good.
It is even good that some churches have family-oriented events.
Events where they get together and have fun-filled game nights of fellowshipping.
It is a wonderful thing when we can get a good rest.
Or even when saints get together and enjoy each other’s company.
To relax does not mean we are forgetting about our Christian journey.
It means we are following the Lord’s invitation to take a break.
Remembering that if the Lord told us to do it, it is something we must do.
He is always looking out for our well-being.
He always wants us to be at our best.
So, keep working, but do not forget that it is okay to take a break.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we know it is Your desire for us to spread the Word daily. But we also know that You have told us that if our bodies, souls, and spirits are to function at their best, we must take the time to rest. That in resting it is giving us the ability to be renewed. Let us take heed to Your command. It is our desire to tell others about You, To do things the way You have instructed us to do. Thank You for reminding us that it is okay to come inside and rest a while.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
