Today’s Reading: Romans 8:2-8
Today’s Verse: For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. Romans 8:5 KJV
To be in a battle means we engage in a fight.
Every believer is in a battle.
The Bible describes the Christian life as a spiritual battle.
It is a struggle for life and death.
A fight for our souls.
A battle that rages for control of our minds.
The way we think determines how we will behave.
The only way to conquer our sinful tendencies comes when we learn to see ourselves as God sees us.
A change that comes when we follow His ways.
We are new creations no longer under the bondage of sin.
Our previous sins have been forgiven.
Because of Christ’s Spirit, “in all these things we are more than conquerors,” (Romans 8:37 KJV).
We recognize the lies of the enemy. The ones that tell us we are weak and will fail again.
We must fight back with God’s truth.
“[We] are of God.” [We] have overcome them: because greater is he that is in [us], than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4 KJV).
Always declaring that Christ’s Spirit is greater than Satan.
We are to keep our minds focused on spiritual things (Philippians 4:8 KJV).
This helps us know the difference between what fits us as believers and what does not.
In the end, we must choose what is acceptable (Matthew 5:3-11 KJV) and reject what is ungodly (Galatians 5:19-21 KJV).
The longer we are Spirit-led, we become more sensitive to His warnings about temptation.
The greater our strength will be to battle for our thought lives.
A Spirit-filled life starts with the gift of the Holy Spirit.
It is given to all who receive Jesus Christ as their Savior.
Under the Spirit’s control we understand that through God all things exist.
Because of His divine powers, we find grace and mercy filling our lives.
It gets even better the more we resist temptation and hold fast to the Word.
His desire is that we change our independent way of thinking and experience the victories He can give to those who are Spirit-filled.
We live not in the flesh, but in the Spirit (Romans 8:5 KJV).
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we know that our union with Christ is through faith. We no longer live in the flesh, but in the Spirit. Help us to renew our hearts and mind daily. Knowing we can only defeat sin when we live according to the Word. Thank You for giving us the strength to win the battle for our thought lives. We want to receive all the blessings and victories You have in store for our lives.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
