Jealousy Defeated: We Really Overcome with His Great Power

Today’s Reading: 1 Samuel 18:5-16

Today’s Verse: And Saul was very wroth, and the saying displeased him; and he said, They have ascribed unto David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed but thousands: and what can he have more but the kingdom? 1 Samuel 18:8 KJV

We all have expectations, desirers, and hopes.

It is when we desire what someone else has, our problems start.

If we let it, jealousy and envy can take control of our lives.

Think about Saul. The first king to be appointed by the Lord (1 Samuel 18:5-16 KJV)

He is an example of how jealousy and envy took control of his life.

He was given power and godly success.

One day he heard women praising David.

Their praise was for his great victory over Goliath.

Saul became envious and suspicious of him.

It was to the point where he had a fear of losing the kingdom.

His jealousy led to the loss of relationships.

He even lost his position, and power.

Jealousy and envy are signs that the Spirit of God is departed from men.

And like Saul, we become easily annoyed, envious, and irritated.

We all should take the time to ask ourselves, Is there anyone whose material, physical, or relational success causes me to feel displeasure, discomfort, or anxiety?

Human nature will always feel this way.

He has created each of us differently.

His plan for every individual’s life is unique.

But the more we live by the Word the Holy Spirit will help us.

He knows that plan that the Lord has for our lives.

All we have to do is take the time to ask Him to help us defeat these feelings.

None of us want to be in a position like the one Saul was in.

It only does more harm than god.

Each of us are blessed with different gifts.

Gifts that bring joy and happiness.

Let us use our gifts wisely.

Lif is always better when we focus on our own walk with the Lord.

He has a plan for each of us.

His plan for each one of us is unique.

They are greater than great in all their ways.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, may we honestly take the time to examine ourselves. Making sure our expectations, desires and hopes are according to the Word. Jealousy and envy are not to have a place in our lives. You have created each of us differently. You have a plan for each of our lives. Let us rejoice with each other for all our victories. Thank You for all the blessings You give.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
