A Perfect Heart: His Spirit of Divine Guidance Guaranteed

Today’s Reading: 2 Chronicles 16:1-14

Today’s Verses: “For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.” 2 Chronicles 16:9 KJV

The eyes of the Lord searches the whole earth. He desires “to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.”

He is carefully looking at each of us. Examining and recording our actions. All so He can construct a plan for our lives.

To strengthen the hearts of those who are committed to Him.

We will still make mistakes, but He wants us to have a heart that is responsive, trustworthy, and dedicated to walking with Him in all areas of our lives.

In this passage King Asa had encountered an attack form the king of Israel. Instead of putting his trust in God, he put his trust in the king of Syria.

He received a strong expression of disapproval from the prophet Hanani. The prophet told him, “Herein thou hast done foolishly” by relying on human strength. For relying on an old treaty instead of God.

The prophet told him because of his lack of faith, “therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.”

God is not pleased when we do not trust Him. When we rely more on flesh than His power and goodness.

No matter what the situation may be, we need to look to our own hearts. We need to make sure that they are perfectly aligned towards God, by faith, patience, and obedience.

We do not want to be foolish like King Asa and lean on a broken reed.

We have the Rock of Ages to rely upon. The One we can put all our hope and trust in.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, we know that You are always with us. That You are always looking at how we are doing things. Always desiring to point us in the right direction, We do not always listen. We have to suffer the consequences for our actions. Like Paul said we need to stop and “examine [ourselves], whether [we] be in the faith.” No matter what our situation may be, we need to look to our own hearts. We need to make sure that they are perfectly aligned towards You, by faith, patience, and obedience. Thank You for “the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.” Thank You for being the Solid Rock on which we can stand.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
