Read: Proverbs 1:10-19
So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof. Proverbs 1:29 KJV
“Satisfaction guaranteed” is a term all of us have heard.
For those that are greedy, it is hard to come by.
Greed is the longing for more and more.
What we have is never enough.
It has the tendency to motivate a person to build a large empire often at the expense of others.
The rich get richer all while forgetting the needs of those less fortunate.
We know the Lord does not have a problem with us prospering.
But to be “greedy of gain” always “taketh away the life of the owners thereof” (Proverbs 1:29 KJV).
The word greed may not be seen often in Scripture, but it is a warning given (see, KJV, Colossians 3:1-11; Luke 12:13-21; 1 Thessalonians 2:5; 2 Peter 2:3).
Greed causes us to lose out on the many blessings He has in store for us.
Greedy people will always lose more than they gain.
We have to remember that He has called us to make His desires for the world our primary interest.
Let us put greed in its place.
Starting by acknowledging how God is meeting all our needs.
How we will meet the needs of those around us.
It will be manifested by the gratitude we show and our continuing to have a faith that is growing in our hearts.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, help us to know the difference between a need and a want. The world is full of temptations. The ones that look good but are not good for us. Ones that we do not really need. You know what we need. All we have to do is read and depend on Your Word. Thank You for the wisdom You are always sending our way.
In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
