Read: Matthew 23:13-33
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. Matthew 23:23 KJV
In this chapter the Savior was speaking to the multitude, and to His disciples.
Teaching on how they should be conducting themselves.
Giving warning to those who were supposed to be leading the people in a proper way.
He said, “Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone” (Matthew 23:23 KJV).
They were paying their tithes of mint, anise and cummin, but neglected to realize the more important matters of the law.
That being the showing of justice, mercy, and faithfulness.
From tithing to faithfulness, they were to practice all of them.
Not just one part.
They all play an important part in the Father’s plan for our lives.
Our personal faith in Christ not only applies to our lives but also to the lives of others.
When we let the Lord come into our lives there was a change within.
One that leads us to a place where we should never forget that we still need to worry about other things around us.
Understanding how we are to manage them.
That everything we see or hear may not be what the Lord has in mind for our lives.
He wants us to better our lives and show how others can do the same.
When we restrict our belief in Him to our needs only, and not the needs of others, we dishonor Him.
Woe be unto the man who follows the way of the scribes and Pharisees.
The ones that are only doing part of the Lord’s will.
To have a positive result, we have to do it all.
It is not too late to listen to what the Lord is telling us.
To realize the importance of following all of His Word.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, as we grow in this Christian walk show us how to measure our likeness in You. Growing more in faith. We know that as we live more according to Your Word, we will be able to tell if we are doing things the right way. Our sensitivity to right our wrongs will always make us strong. Helping us to be there for those who need encouragement. We want to do it with a cheerful heart. Show us how Father.
In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
