Knowing Yourself Will Make You Astoundingly Helpful to Others

Read: Galatians 6:1-5 / Luke 18:9-14

Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.

Galatians 6:1 KJV

None of us can claim to be perfect.

The Bible has told us, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23 KJV).

We all have made some mistakes in life and will continue to.

Our ability to overcome sinful things happens most when we recognize them.

When we admit that we are no better than the next person.

A humble spirit will always recognize we all have something to work on in our spiritual walk.

Never being too proud to seek forgiveness.

Then we will have what is needed to help restore other believers.

To be the one to understands.

To be a support to those who need it.

That is what the Apostle Paul was saying to the church.

He heard that they were heading in a direction that would be harmful to them.

He wrote a letter giving them some instructions.

In Galatians 6, he is instructing them on how Christians are to treat each other.

Instruction that still hold true to this day.

He said, we should be restoring those who have sinned with gentleness and humility.

Not sitting in judgment of one another.

To bear one another’s burdens.

To be honest about what the Father is doing through us.

Taking full responsibility for what the Father has asked us to carry.

To never give up on doing good.

To be especially careful that they did not fall into the same temptation.

Because it could be easy to find ourselves being convinced that it really was not as bad as it seemed.

Therefore, it is possible to be persuaded to try it.

It is even quite common for a man to look upon himself as wiser and better than others.

We should never take a superior attitude toward fellow believers who have fallen.

This is not what the Father desires for our lives.

We are to strive to lift them up.

To be a support.

Always remembering how thankful we were that someone was there for us.

Treating us in the same manner as the Father does each of us.

Making it where our sins can be forgiven.

We are given another chance.

Knowing that we can be “justified freely by [His] grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus” (Romans 3:24 KJV).

Which means He has seen and knows our situation.

He knows how we have been treated and how we are treating others.

That we desire His forgiveness.

He is always willing to give it to us.

Because despite our sins they have already been forgiven because of Christ’s redeeming power.

We just needed to ask for it.

We all will have our moments when we are not doing things the right way.

It is a blessing to know He continues to treat each of us better than we deserve.

That He is always showing us where we need to improve in our lives.

It is up to each of us to listen and use them.

Being thankful that He loves us enough to keep giving us chances to change.

Our time of fellowshipping is important.

It shows that we will be there to support one another no matter our circumstance.

To treat others the way we want to be treated.

That we will choose the Father’s way of thinking over our own.

Because His ways are always better than our ways.

The greatest reason to stay rooted and grounded in the Word.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, none of us are free from sin. We all have our moments when we have gone against what You have told us. Let us not judge our fellowmen. But come to understand them and what they may be going through. Always remembering You have said in John 8:7 KJV “He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone.” None of us are free from sin. That is why we need to be there for each other. To help bear each other’s burden. Never giving up on doing good. May we all remember what You have told us.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
