Read: 2 Timothy 2:14-28
Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 2 Timothy 2:22 KJV
There are things in life that we want to have but we know they are not good for us.
But, many times, we get them anyway.
All because there is just something about it that keeps making us want it.
Conversations that we know we should avoid at all costs.
But we get caught up talking about them just the same.
Temptation is what we call it.
It comes at us all day long and from every direction.
We begin to feel guilty because we have given into a desire to do something wrong or unwise.
Temptation will always try to hit us in the weakest areas of our lives.
That is why, as Christians, we must always be prepared to resist any temptations to do that which we know to be wrong.
We have to be serious about our fight against it.
To heed Paul’s warning to Timothy to, “Flee also youthful lusts.”
To “follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart” (2 Timothy 2:22 KJV).
It was good advice way back then, and still holds true to this day.
The Lord is always there for us.
He knows what we need to be victorious over any temptations we face.
Self-check.
Are there any temptations that have been defeating you?
Remember, the best way to defeat any temptation is by staying in the Word.
Let the Lord lead and guide you.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, the fight is at hand. Temptation is all around us. But we know we can defeat it and have the victory in the end. We know that the more we follow that which is good, the faster and the further we shall flee from that which is evil. We know all good is through You and the Word. Thank You for giving us the weapons we need to defeat every temptation that comes our way.
In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
