We Are One – A Most Genuine Concern to Fulfill

Today’s Reading: John 17

Today’s Verse: And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are. John 17:11 KJV

Desire. It is a strong feeling. One of wanting to have something or wishing for something to happen. One that can be worthy. One that can be unworthy.

In the Bible, it is referred to as a strong yearning. A longing for something, which can be either good or bad. It acknowledges both righteous desires and sinful desires.

We know that our main goal is have a desire for God. Not the sinful desires of the world.

In today’s verse, Jesus was praying to the Father before His crucifixion. He was focusing on His disciples and their future in the world.

He did not pray that they might be rich and great in the world. He wanted them to be kept from sin. To be strengthened for their duty.

He was asking the Father to protect them. He wanted them to stay united. To be made one, just as He and the Father are one. To be brought safely to Heaven.

He knew that God would be a safeguard to them through His Divine power and authority.

The same concern that Jesus had for His disciples, He has for us.

He has a concern for our future. He wants us protected from the things that are not pleasing in His sight. He wants us to be united. To be made one, just as He and the Father are one.

Christians saved by His grace.

He desires that we are kept protected, stay together, help each other, and continue our connection with God.

We must continue to gather together. Continue to worship Him. Living in His love.

We want the world to see Him through us. To learn of His protective power.

Praying, they have a desire to know Him. That they see the importance of unity among believers and their shared faith.

Make us united. Make us one Lord.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Savior, we are grateful that You went before God on our behalf. Asking Him to keep us through His power and His glory. Helping us to stay united. Keep us from all evil. We still have magnificent work to do for the glory of God. With You all things are possible. We just have to keep the faith and believe. Thank You for praying for our unity. For making us one. We want the world to know that You have come. To know of the difference You can make in their lives. Make us united. Make us one Lord.

In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen
