Today’s Reading: Psalms 23
Today’s Verse: Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Psalms 23:5 KJV
We have had days when life feels good. Days when our lives feel bad.
Always looking for something that can fill our souls.
Those are the times we seek the Lord. Acknowledging that we are His children. Asking Him to help make the needed changes in our lives.
That we know He had done it before. That He will do it again.
The psalmist in this passage even acknowledged God’s generosity and favor.
He said, “Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over” (Psalms 23:5 KJV).
He knew that God would always be there for him, even in the times of trouble.
That His blessing would be in great numbers.
The same holds true in our lives.
“Fill my cup, Lord.” A phrase we all have heard.
It may not be a direct quote from the Bible, but it does express our desire to be filled with God’s goodness and His grace.
Saying Lord, we need You.
That no matter what anyone says, we have a longing for spiritual fulfillment. That we recognize God’s overflowing generosity.
We wish to continue to receive His abundant blessings and grace.
Asking Him to give us love, joy and peace.
His never-ending love for us in our lives is like a golden stream. One that leads to His wonderful city called Heaven.
Let us stay strong and of good courage.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Savior, we know You are there for us. You fill our houses with hope. You fill our plans up with purpose. You fill our wounds up with healing. We pray that You will continue to fill our days with meaning, We want our futures to be filled with vision, goodness, grace and provision. Knowing that when we get to that city we cannot see, You have something even greater for us. Thank You for all the filling our cups and letting them overflow. We want to say like the psalmist, “my cup runneth over.”
In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen
