Faith: This is the Greatest Form of Comfort Found

Today’s Reading: Psalms 23

Today’s Verses: Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Psalms 23:4 KJV

Today is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

We all know our way may not be easy. There will be times of heartaches, troubles, loneliness, and fear. But with the Lord on our side, we can make it through.

“We walk by faith and not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7). Christian life is a journey of faith.

David has always been a prime example of how life is a journey. He would seek God for guidance, perseverance, and purpose.

He even prayed, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil” (Psalms 23:4 KJV).

David faced many dangerous and frightening situations. But despite his circumstances, he trusted God and kept the faith.

“Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me” (Psalms 23:4 KJV).

Shepherds often used rods and staffs. They were for protection and guidance. The rod would keep predators away and the staff was used to guide and rescue sheep.

The shepherd’s tools represent God’s protection and guidance. A source of comfort and reassurance.

David knew that God was with him even in challenging times. Leading and guiding him.

We are the sheep and Jesus is the Shepherd. Protecting and guiding us.

“[We are] crucified with Christ: nevertheless [we] live; yet not [we], but Christ liveth in [us]: and the life which [we] now live in the flesh [we] live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved [us], and gave himself for [us]” (Galatians 2:20 KJV).

We are living united with Christ. A life that is a journey of faith.

He has a plan for each of our lives. Plans to prosper us. Not harm us. Plans that will give us hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11 KJV).

With the Lord on our side, we can face any challenge.

“We know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28 KJV).

As we go through the various seasons and challenges of life, continue to seek His guidance and encouragement.

Keep confidence in God’s grace. Keep confidence in His care.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, You know the plans that You have for our lives. You have told us that in this world we will have trouble. That we are to take heart because You have overcome the world. We are believing that You will not allow anything to tempt us beyond what we can bear. On this journey called life, You are our Comforter and our Guide. Thank You for always being there for us.

In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen
