Today’s Reading:1 John 4:20-5:5
Today’s Verse: And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also. 1 John 4:21 KJV
Brotherly love is the sacrificial serving of others.
It is shown when we offer support during tough times.
When we listen closely to what they are saying.
We make efforts to celebrate their achievements.
Overall, we show kindness and compassion towards others without expecting anything in return,
As Christians we know that “Brother love” is a commandment.
The Savior has told us, “Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself” (Matthew 22:38).
It refers to all people, not just those that are physically close.
It is second to the first and great commandment.
The commandment that says, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind” (Matthew 22:37 KJV).
Our love for Him is where it all starts.
Making it easy to show others.
Today’s passage is a reminder of this command.
“That he who loveth God love his brother [and sister] also” (1 John 4:21 KJV).
“Agape Love.” A pure unconditional, and sacrificial love.
The highest form of love.
A love that forgives, is kind, and recognizes the needs of others.
That is what the Savior shows.
As His followers, it also is what we should be showing.
Let us be an example of what it means to show this kind of love.
As we strive to keep this command let us do it with a positive and supportive attitude.
Demonstrating a deep care and concern for the well-being of others.
Our love for one person in need opens the door for a multitude of blessings to be received by many.
That is His desire.
Be the one to show love no matter where you are.
Agape love.
This should be our desire.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we know that You have a deep love for us. You have blessed us with different talents and abilities to serve You. The gift of love is just one of them. Help us to use it to show others what it truly means. How it forgives, is kind, and recognizes the needs of others. That You desire love to be a part of their lives. Giving them the opportunity to be someone who shows love to others too. May we all see the benefits of using our gifts for the Kingdom.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
