By Loving Him, Our Ability to Love is Fantastic

Read: Leviticus 19:15-21 / Matthew 22:34-40

Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.

Leviticus 19:18 KJV

In a world that most often shows it could care less, we are to be the chosen people who cares more.

There are times when the command to love does not get through to us (Leviticus 19:18 KJV).

We may be sensitive to the hurt of others.

None of us like to hear stories of people, especially children and the elderly, being abused.

That there are those who are hungry and unable to feed themselves and their family.

We know that deep inside that our caring is genuine when it goes beyond feelings and moves into action.

We can do this when we follow His commands.

The first and greatest command is to love Him as He loves us (Matthew 22:37-38 KJV).

Our love must be sincere, not just in words and how we speak.

We know that God loves us and will supply all of our needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19KJV).

That is why we are able to truly heed His second command.

It tells us, “Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself” (Matthew 22:39 KJV).

Love comes in many forms.

It is most seen in the way we treat one another.

The Lord has told us, not to “avenge, nor bear any grudge” against anyone (Leviticus 19:18 KJV).

Showing each other the same love He has shown us.

We Know we cannot assist everyone in the world.

We know that we can only do so much.

Because when we try to do everything, we become discouraged and do nothing.

The Lord knows what we can do.

How much we can bear.

His desire is for each of us to start out by helping at least one person.

As time goes by, we will begin to see our love grow and be the one that allows us to help the many we come in contact with.

Let today be the day we determine in our hearts that by the power of God’s grace we will do it.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Savior, through You we have the power to be true disciples for You. Showing each other the same love You have shown to us. Help us to continue to see the needs of others and assist where we can. Remembering that Matthew 25:40 has told us “Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” Thank You for making it where we can be there for one another.

In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
