Powerful, Marvelous Endings Always to be Found with Him

Today’s Reading: Jonah 1:13-17 / Matthew 24:32-44

Today’s Verse: Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights. Jonah 1:17 KJV

We know there are some who think the Bible is just a collection of fairy tales.

A boy who slew a giant. A man swallowed by a gigantic fish. Noah’s experience with building a huge boat.

There are even some religious people that feel the events are just nice stories with good moral endings.

But even Jesus Himself spoke of Jonah and the great fish. He spoke about Noah and the flood. They were actual events.

He said, “But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be” (Matthew 24:37-39 KJV).

The return of the Savior will happen when we least expect it.

The Savior even compared Jonah’s three days inside the great fish to the three days He would experience in the grave before He rose again (Matthew 12:40 KJV).

We know He rose with all power in His hands (Matthew 28:18 KJV).

Peter even talked about how Noah and the flood compared to a future day when Jesus would return (2 Peter 2:4-9 KJV).

The Bible. God’s Word given to us.

It is a book that is filled with truth. It is not a fairy tale.

The only real thing they have in common, we will live happily ever after with Him.

He has a purpose for each of our lives.

We need to answer Him when He calls.

Staying rooted in the Word.

Jesus is coming again to receive all of God’s children to Himself.

“Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh” (Matthew 24:44 KJV).

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, sometimes we will find ourselves in a storm. Like Jonah, it can come when You are trying to get our attention. Reminding us of that we have strayed. How things will only get better when we submit to You and turn from our sins. Let us see the salvation of the Lord. Let us admire His power. We know it is because of His mercies we are not consumed. Thank You for making it possible for us to have a happily ever after ending to our lives.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
