What Do You See?

Read: Luke 6:38-45

And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Luke 6:41 KJV

Physically, mirrors reflect light and the world around us.

Spiritually, they reflect truth. They reflect what is.

We know there are too many times when we look at how others are doing things.

Voicing our opinions on what they should or should not be doing.

The Lord has warned us.

What the mouth speaks, generally agrees with what is most in the heart.

Before we find faults in others, we need to look in the mirror and remember our own faults and weaknesses.

He even warned the scribes and Pharisees about their tendencies of being quick to judge others.

Not recognizing that their faults were far worse in their lives.

Jesus rebuked them for seeing a speck in another man’s eye, while they had plank blocking their own vision (Luke 6:41-42).

If we follow the ways of evil, it will lead to destruction.

We must be careful not to form opinions until we know all the facts.

Then we should be praying and comforting them. Not making judgement calls.

Treating them the way we would like to be treated (Matthew 7:12).

Each of us should take the time to look in the mirror, see our own sins, and clean things up.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Lord, let us not jump to conclusions regarding one another. Remind us to look in the mirror and remember that we all have our own shortcomings. Let us pray and surrender all our thoughts to You. Knowing You will show us what we need to do in our lives. Then will we be able to see what someone else may be going through. Wisdom is ours when we follow Your Word.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
