As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth. Psalms 103:15 KJV
The flowers of a garden typically last a long time because they are being sheltered by a garden-wall, and in a gardener’s care.
The other day, my sister sent me this picture of the flowers that were blooming in Mill Creek Park.
A well-known park in Youngstown, Ohio.
I may have spoken about it in a previous post.
The lawn and the flowers there are taken good care of.
The atmosphere is so beautiful and peaceful, you wish it would last forever.
But it is only for a season.
When we visit, it is so nice to be able to walk through and sit for a moment.
Looking at all the beauty, we could take a moment to think about different things, or just hold a nice conversation.
But when it is all over, as we leave the park and are driving, we see other areas of land.
There are flowers in a field.
We can see that they are beginning to wither and cease to flourish.
They are exposed to the weather changes, eaten or stepped on by other things that live in the field.
There is no one to care for them.
We can see how our lives can compare to both situations.
The good news is that we have options on how our situations will turn out.
Choose the right gardener.
See things begin to flourish in your life.
When we put our trust in the Lord, He will provide the shelter we need and take good care of us.
When we don’t, our lives cease to flourish, and we are exposed to things that are harmful to us.
David wrote this Psalms as a poetic song that praised God and reflected on how quickly the joyful moments of our lives can pass by.
He understood how quickly things could change, causing a physical as well as spiritual death.
Despite his acknowledgement on how short life is, David describes the flowers as his way of clinging to God’s promises in the good times and the bad times.
Think about it, no matter what the day brings God knows what we are going through and shows compassion to us.
Just like the flowers in the photo, for every blossom, fragrance, color and beauty encountered, our faith in God will bring great joy.
His mercy is greater than life.
We can rejoice and flourish in every moment of our lives.
Because we know that every detail of our lives is covered by the everlasting love of God forever.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, You are the greatest gardener there is. You are always there to show us the ways that allow us to flourish. We desire to live a life that lets others know that our lives are covered by Your everlasting love forever. That when they give their life to You, they will be well taken care of.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
