Hospitality Matters

Use hospitality one to another without grudging.
 1 Peter 4:9 KJV

God tells us to treat each other the way we want to be treated.

This is just one form of “hospitality” that should be demonstrated by us all and demonstrated without any resentment or unwillingness.

We should be earnest and serious in all our endeavors.

Our work as a follower of Christ can be hard but the goodness of the Lord towards us is the best reward ever.

Failure to show hospitality results in misery, unhappiness, and a separation from God.

We each have a gift of hospitality. Be it a smile, a wave, opening the door for someone, even helping someone reach something on a high shelf, it doesn’t matter. The act of kindness and a willingness to help someone is a form of hospitality.

I was in Sam’s Club one day.  The area for checking out was overflowing with customers. The lines were long and wrapping around all over the place. We walked around and found a line that looked ok, but then looked like it was for small loads, which wasn’t what we had.

Long story short, a nice lady that was in front of us said, “You can go and see if there is a better line for you. I’ll save your spot, if you don’t find one”.

That is a true form of hospitality.  We did not know each other but she was willing to do that to assist us.

We are one body in Christ with different gifts. This is just one of them.

Remember the giving of yourself to do the Lord’s will, tells everyone you encounter that the Lord is the prime example of hospitality,  His glory is everlasting and desires to have it shine through each of us.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Lord we thank you for showing us what it means to have a Spirit of Hospitality.  The act of showing kindness to one another and expecting nothing in return. It is a blessing which has a great deal of character that truly reflects the love and care You have embedded in us to share.  May we never lose this spirit.

In Jesus Name, Amen
