Today’s Reading: John 15:10-15
Today’s Verse: Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13 KJV
Friendship is a positive thing.
There will be times when you cannot reach a friend.
But that does not mean they do not care.
The same holds true in our spiritual lives.
There are times when God may seem far away.
We begin to wonder how personally involved He really is in our lives.
We may thin He is not, but He is.
Psalms139:13-17 (NIV) says that He knit us together in the womb and loves us with unconditional love.
This shows that from our conception, He has been there for us. That He has great love for us.
We also know that He has plans for us to prosper spiritually (Philippians 1:6 KJV).
The Bible is filled with His truths.
Our Father has detailed knowledge about us.
He loves us deeply.
The life of the Savior testifies to His divine desire for a personal relationship.
He reached out to strangers, inviting them to draw near to Him.
He would speak words of encouragement to His disciples and other followers.
Teaching them the knowledgeable truths that He had received from His Father (John 7:16 KJV).
Making them accountable for their actions.
As the Father loved Christ, so He loved His disciples.
He even invited certain ones to accompany Him for firsthand experiences.
Such as the transfiguration and His last prayer retreat to the Graden of Gethsemane (Mark 9:2; Matthew 26:36-37 KJV).
These were signs of real friendship.
Jesus’ final act of dying on the cross made it possible for us to become a part of His “inner circle.”
As part of the family of God, the Holy Spirt became our companion and guide.
Always there to be a witness to God’s closeness.
Giving detailed knowledge to those who are His.
God has always made a personal relationship with Him possible.
But all too often we hold back.
We let earthy concerns put limits on His involvement in our lives.
We need to accept His love and continue in love with Him.
Taking all occasions to show it.
Standing on the First Commandment: “And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength” (Mark 12:30 KJV).
Let us commit to seeking the Lord with all our hearts.
Watching His love flow richly into our lives.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, Your love for us is great. The power of it was shown when Christ was sacrificed for our sins. The love of Christ that abounds in our hearts. Let us return this love by keeping Your commandments. The Word will always direct to show love to You and one another. “Greater love hath no man than this.” Thank You for Your unconditional love.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
