Successful: Devotion Really Empowers Us to Overcome Worldly Things

Read: Galatians 1:7-13 / Colossians 1:1-10

For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. Galatians 1:10 KJV

In this world today there is a need to know what is most beneficial in our lives.

We sometimes struggle when trying to decide what we should be doing.

Trying to figure out who we should be pleasing.

On our own, things may not give us the results we want.

It happens when we are constantly trying to please others.

It is a blessing when we realize that it is more important to please God than to please man.

He has a plan for our lives.

One that gives us all the wisdom and knowledge we need.

And He is always there to guide us.

There are those who will testify of how they changed their ways.

Apostle Paul realized this when he said to the people of Galatia, “For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ” (Galatians 1:10 KJV).

He knew that if he pleased men, he would not be a servant of the Lord.

His desire was to serve the Lord in every area of his life.

He was trying to bring others to this same knowledge.

Obedience not of man but of God was what they should be doing.

He even prayed for the Colossian believers.

Praying, “That [they] might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God” (Colossians 1:10 KJV).

When we listen and take heed to what He is telling us, all things fall into place.

We know that the more we honor the Lord, discouragement is easy to overcome.

The things of the world will not keep us from being successful in our calling.

No more wasting time trying to defend ourselves when others say all manner of things about us.

The more we pray and seek guidance from the Lord, the enemy is defeated.

Because just like Paul, we are “[walking] worthy of the Lord” (Colossians 1:10 KJV).

Stand firm on the fact that what God knows about you is more important than what people may say about you.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, we know we should be focused on the things of You and not of man. Never letting what they say influence our walk with You. We are on a faith journey. Trusting You to lead and guide us. Because we know that You know what is best for us. Always showing us how we should manage things. We want to be pleasing in Your site. Your approval is all we really need. It is more important than what the people around us may say about us. Thank You for being there for us.

In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
