Laziness: In Life, The Latest Enemy Faith Will Defeat

Today’s Reading: Proverbs 24:30-34

Today’s Verse: Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man. Proverbs 23:33-34 KJV

Laziness is characteristic.

One of not being willing to work. That we will not make any effort to do something.

Ones that we all have to break.

We have the ability to do it but avoid doing them.

In the Book Proverbs, the author speaks of the sad results of laziness.

He said, “Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man” (Proverbs 23:33-34 KJV).

As followers of Christ, we are not to be lazy.

The Word reminds us of the importance of being diligent in our doings.

To show it in a spirt of service to God and others.

It warns us against laziness. Highlighting that it is a characteristic flaw with negative consequences. Ones that can be both material and spiritual.

Anyone who is inclined to be lazy knows that a big effort is needed to defeat it.

But if we do nothing, pain and suffering comes. We face Spiritual struggles.

Facing Divine judgement in the end.

Defeat laziness.

We are encouraged to work with all our heart, as for the Lord. Not for man (Colossians 3:23 KJV).

Those who are diligent and hardworking will receive the blessings God has for them. They will be prosperous in life.

Being lazy will cause us to lose the opportunity for these blessings.

None of us should desire to miss the blessing He has for us.

So, what can we do about laziness?

We can begin by evaluating how we spend our time.

Truly decide what your day will be like.

Prayer and the reading of the Word should be the first thing.

If we discover that we are wasting our day, we need to develop a way to defeat the problem.

Tackle the small tasks first. The more we work on them, they will not turn into big problems.

Remembering that the less we do today, the more we have to do tomorrow.

We will begin to realize how much better it is to succeed than to slumber.

We can do all things through Christ. Trust in His ways.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, we know that it is Your desire that laziness be defeated. You have a plan for our lives. It is our responsibility to seek what it is. To be willing and able to do what is needed. Not to put off to tomorrow what needs to be done today. Let us show wisdom by working hard until we have finished. Keeping poverty away. Thank You for the guidance You always give us.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
