This is Love – Your Calling is Worth Every Effort

Read: Ephesians 4:1-6, 32

I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love. Ephesians 4:1-2 KJV

Vocation is a calling or a mission.

It is a strong feeling for a particular career or occupation.

It is the type of work that you feel you could give all your time an energy to do.

Something we take pride in doing.

Knowing that we each have a part to play in life.

Biblically, our vocation is a “calling.”

In this passage Paul is telling the church to “walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called.”

The Father has something for each of us to do.

He knows the mission He has predestined for our lives.

He knows that we will face different situations that calls for us to handle things in a certain way.

Even though we may have a right to be upset and angry.

He desires that we behave in a calm and sensible way.

How are we to do it?

“With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love” (Ephesians 4:1-2 KJV).

It will require us to change how we see things.

We are to, “Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from [us]” (Ephesians 4:31 KJV).

God has given us a way to manage things.

We do it by bearing with one another in love and forgiveness, “even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven [us]” (Ephesians 4:2,32 KJV).

As Christians, we are to do as God has told us.

To be the person God is calling us to be.

He has given us a call to holiness.

A call to do things according to the Word.

Showing all who see you that you take seriously the call on your life.

“Forbearing one another in love.”

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, there are times when situations arise that we need to be mindful of how we handle them. We all have a calling on our lives. And we may not always agree about some things. The more we live according to the Word, we can learn what it takes to manage any situation that we face. We all have a part to play in this mission of life. The love we show will always make a situation better. Let us continue to walk worthy of the calling You have placed in each of our lives.

In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
