Wonderful Things Actually Happen When You Obey His Commands

Today’s Reading: Jeremiah 7:21-28

Today’s Verse: But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you. Jeremiah 7:23 KJV

In the Bible, a “command” is a divine instruction. It is coming from God.

It reflects His will and character. It encourages every believer to live righteously.

We express our faith through obedience.

We see these commands in negative or positive ways.

Negative because they tell us what not to do. To be aware of the things that will cause us problems. Things we often do not want to hear.

Positive because what they say is a good thing. It is always Words of wisdom. Ones that bring peace and joy to our lives.

Our lives are made easy when we follow His commands.

In this passage God is speaking through the Prophet Jeremiah.

He is commanding the people of Israel to obey His voice. He promises to be their God, and they would be His people. He instructed them to walk in all His ways so that it might go well with them.

He was giving great attention to the importance of listening to and following His voice.

That in return for their obedience, He promised to be their God, and they would be His people. That it would be a relationship based on faithfulness.

God wanted everything to go well for them. All they had to do was keep His commands.

“Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment” (Matthew 22:36-38 KJV).

The same holds true for our lives. Obedience is required of us.

We are commanded to listen to His voice.

When we walk in all the ways that He has commanded us, it may be well unto us (Jeremiah 7:23 KJV).

This promise is very encouraging.

It stressed that a relationship with God is built on faith. It is built on obedient actions.

Living according to His Word is a spiritual fuel that provides strength and confidence to fulfill His calling.

God will always offer comfort in our times of need. He is always present. Always answering our prayers. Providing support through fellow believers.

His desire is to help us overcome doubts and difficult times.

Let God’s will be our rule. His favor shall be our happiness. We do not want Him to be displeased because of our disobedience.

He wants to strengthen our faith. To guide us toward a life of purpose. To help us in our spiritual growth.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, we are listening to Your voice. We are trying to obey Your commands. We want to live a blessed life. Forgive us for the times we have not truly listened to You. For the times we have chosen our own ways instead of Yours. Please give us the strength to walk in Your ways. To trust in Your promises. Create in us a clean heart and a willing spirit. Let our spiritual ears find the strength to hear Your voice despite the noise of this world. Anoint us to know the difference. Help us to live a life that glorifies You.

In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen
