Friendship – A Pure Heart Full of Hope and Love

Read: John 15:1-7

Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. John 15:15 KJV

“What is man, that thou art mindful of him?” (Psalms 8:4 KJV).

God is the Creator and Ruler of everything.

His Son is our Lord and King.

For those who truly know Him, they know that He is concerned with every aspect of our lives.

That as He loved the Lord, who was most worthy, He also loved His disciples who were unworthy.

As Christians, we are servants for Him also.

We have our moments just like the disciples did.

But because of His love for us, He has given us the same command He gave the disciples.

He is telling us that “I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends” (John 15:15 KJV).

Just like any good friend, He wants us to know that He is there for us.

What He is willing to do for us.

He never fails to let us know about what is on His mind when it comes to our well-being.

About how we are to manage ourselves and treat one another.

His desire is that we show our friendship to Him by loving one another as He has loved us.

When He was telling this to the disciples, He was also anticipating His death on the cross.

He told them “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13 KJV).

While we yet live, our relationship with others should be one of friendship.

Being there for one another.

It is something that should naturally spring out of us because of our relationship with the Lord.

The One who really showed it when He laid down His life for us.

The love that Christ showed us should always inspire us to love each other.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Savior, You are perfect and true in all Your ways. You have always been there for us. There is none like You. It is a blessing that You have a great love for us all. That we are friends. Just knowing this fills our hearts with joy. Thank You Lord for being our friend. For being by our sides through everything we face in life. For showing us how to be there for others. We appreciate it all.

In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
