And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. Matthew 7:27 KJV
It’s amazing how things happen.
In the world today, our weather crews are always keeping an eye on what the day may bring.
They forewarn us about upcoming storms and about how to prepare ourselves for them.
Of course, we know there will always be some who put off preparing for them because in times past, the storm just passed over.
They feel that since they have made it before, they will be okay.
But the rain comes and causes damage they are not prepared for.
They wish they had prepared better and did not take for granted the warnings they received.
The same holds true for our spiritual way of living.
This Scripture is coming at a time when there may be someone who thinks that they still have time to change their sinful ways and keep putting off making the change.
They keep saying that soon they will start living for Christ.
Not realizing things can change in a moment’s notice.
Just like the weather man is warning us, so has the Lord (Matthew 7:227 KJV).
He is giving us a chance to prepare before the storm hits and He returns.
Jesus said, “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock (Matthew 7:24 KJV).
Our character is strengthening when we apply God’s Word to our lives daily.
We must be diligent in all our daily activities.
When we continue to put off doing what we know is right or make excuses for them, they will become our downfall.
The only way we will be prepared for any storm that comes our way is by obeying the Father each day in every aspect of our lives.
This is a parable that all need to hear.
It teaches us about the importance of listening to and doing as the Lord has said.
It may seem hard, but it must be done.
Christ and His teaching are the foundations on which we are to stand.
Anything else is sinking sand.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, there is a storm coming that will try all of our works. The Word is our foundation, but if we do not take the time to ensure it is stable and strong the house, our spirits, who is built on it will fall and not be found sinless. Making it too late to build another. Savior make us wise builders for eternity. Taking heed to every warning that You give us. We know there is power and wisdom in everything You tell us. We are ever so grateful.
In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
