Today’s Reading: Hosea 4:6-11
Today’s Verse: “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.” Hosea 4:6 KJV
Knowledge is what you learn or understand from experiences or education.
The knowledge we gain in life is for our benefit and the benefit of others.
In the Bible, it is more than just facts. It is a deep relational understanding of God. An understanding of His creation and moral truth. A deep respect for Him.
His knowledge is power. Our lives changed. We have a greater understanding of right from wrong. We apply what we learn. We live righteously.
Hosea 4:6 calls attention to God’s judgment on Israel for forgetting His law. It tells of the priest’s failure to teach God’s law. It caused people to forget God. To reject spiritual knowledge.
God’s guidance and protection is all that we need. Anything else leads to our destruction.
“Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he” (Proverbs 29:18 KJV).
The lack of spiritual knowledge is not passive. It is a dangerous state of being. It leads to poor decision-making and spiritual death.
We seek acceptance from God. We want to receive His blessings. We want our children to receive His blessings.
We must seek God’s knowledge. Get a true understanding of what He has planned for our lives.
We do not want to be “destroyed for lack of knowledge.”
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, so many things happen in life. They come to keep us from learning Your desire for our lives. We do not receive the teaching we need. We can become discouraged. It can reflect on our children and loved ones. We do not want to be destroyed for lack of knowledge. We do not want to be rejected by You. We want to receive all the blessings You have for us. Thank You for it all.
