Confession: The Most Powerful Way to Overcome Any Regrets

Read: 1 Corinthians 15:1-10

For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
1 Corinthians 15:9-10 KJV

We all have our moments when we think about something that we did in the past.

Moments when we wish we could remove the sins and failures that keep coming to mind.

It is a powerful emotion.

We find some relief when we acknowledge and try to correct them.

But that is only the first step.

It is good that we are doing this, but our true peace comes when we find peace with the Father.

It is only when we put our trust in the Savior that we really receive God’s complete forgiveness of our sins.

He is the One that will give us the greatest comfort in knowing that everything will be alright.

The Apostle Paul realized this.

He admitted this when he said, “For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God” (1 Corinthians 15:9 KJV).

He knew he had done wrong and needed to be forgiven.

He even stated about how, “But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me” (1 Corinthians 15:10 KJV).

That was just the beginning.

Even years after he became a child of God, he was still having regrets about how he treated other Christians (1 Timothy 1:12-15 KJV).

He knew he could not undo the past and he did not try.

He changed how he did things by becoming devoted to do God’s will.

Allowing the Lord to use him in a mighty way.

Knowing that grace and mercy was on his side.

His experience lets us know that our past mistakes need not ruin our lives.

That there will be some that we can or cannot change for the good.

That there is still hope.

Because salvation is still ours when we put our trust in the Lord.

When we live according to the Word.

Christ’s death and resurrection will always be the foundation of our Christianity.

He is a forgiving Savior.

He is always by our side.

And His grace and mercy will always be ours.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, we know that by Your Divine grace our sins can be removed. That we can become saints. The ones that may remember our former sins but allow them to keep us humble. Working to keep us diligent and faithful in doing Your Will. Thank You helping us remove the guilt of our past. Giving us a glorious future with You.

In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
