Debt Owed: When You Really Acknowledge His Ultimate Sacrifice

Read: 1 Peter 1:13-21

Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. 1 Peter 1:18-19 KJV

When we hear the word ‘debt’ we automatically think about owing money to someone.

All parties involved come to an agreement on how it will be paid back.

We try to pay it back as quickly as possible.

However, every debt is not one of monetary value.

A debt can also be a feeling of gratitude for a service or favor.

Appreciation for the help we received in a time of need.

We are thankful for all that we have been given and desire to pay it back.

All of us have different forms of debt.

But there is one debt that we all owe.

It is owed to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

He paid the ultimate debt for our lives.

With His blood, He paid the price for our redemption.

To free us from the bondage of sin’s guilt and judgement

So that we all could have the spiritual freedom He desired for our lives (1 Peter 1:18-19 KJV).

The only thing He wants from us as a repayment is for us to repent of our sins.

To walk by faith,

Showing gratitude and obedience by living according to the Word.

That in all we do, have a loving heart of praise.

The debt will never be repaid.

But this will always be our way to put something towards the debt we owe.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Savior, You gave Your life for us all. The blood You shed was the price You paid to redeem us from sin. By faith we vow to repay this debt. We will do it by living in gratitude and obedience to the Word. We will sing a song of praise every day for the sacrifice You made for us. Thank You for all You have done and will do in our lives. For the love You gave so willingly and freely. You did not have to do it, but You did. Thank You.

In Jesus’ Name We Pray, Amen
