Determination: This is Easy In a Love Filled Life

Today’s Reading: Ruth 1:6,11-18 / Luke 9:51-53

Today’s Verse: And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God. Ruth 1:16 KJV

There is a place for determination in our lives.

We can find ourselves at a point in life where we have to make a firm decision about something.

We need to decide whether to do or not to do something.

Knowing that what we decide will have a great impact on our lives.

This is especially true when our lives are rooted in our faith in God and our love for others.

In the book of Ruth, there are three women who were bound together after the loss of their loved ones.

Naomi was the wife of Elimelech and they had two sons, Mahlon and Chilion. Her husband died; and she was left, along with her two sons.

The sons took them wives of the women of Moab. The name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the other Ruth. They dwelled there for about ten years.

Both sons, Mahlon and Chilion died, and Naomi was left of her two sons and her husband (Ruth 1:2-5 KJV).

After their deaths, Naomi decided to return to her home in Bethlehem. She encouraged her widowed daughters-in-law to stay in their country of Moab.

Oprah remained but Ruth was determined to go with Naomi.

“Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God” (Ruth 1:16 KJV),

“When (Naomi) saw that (Ruth) was stedfastly minded to go with her, then she left speaking unto her” (Ruth 1:18 KJV). They began their journey together.

There will always be times when we are determined to do what we want. Refusing to do anything else.

Ruth is an example of the grace of God, inclining the soul to choose the better part.

Showing us how something good grows from a commitment to love.

The Savior is our greatest example of a commitment to love.

“And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem” (Luke 9:51 KJV).

He was committed to staying in agreement with the Father. To show us the love that the Father has for us.

From His determination to die for us, we should find the determination to live for Him.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, we know that love requires that we be committed. To You we give our lives and our love. Knowing nothing can compare to the love You have shown us. Letting nothing make us come short of salvation through You because we will not forsake other things for You. We want to remain faithful in all we do for You. Thank You for all the blessings You we receive for being committed to You.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
