Devoted, Powerful Prayer Life – From Asking, Hearing, and Receiving

Today’s Reading: 1 John 5:13-17

Today’s Verse: “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us” 1 John 5:14 KJV

A believer’s confidence means we have a strong, fearless trust and reliance on God. We trust in His promises. We rely on His faithfulness.

It is not self-assurance, but a divine assurance. It allows us to approach God boldly in our time of need (Hebrews 4:16 KJV). We can find safety in Him. Keeping us from placing our confidence in wealth or human power.

The Bible warns against putting our confidence in the flesh, wealth, or human leaders. It will lead to shame (Philippians 3:3; Jeremiah 48:13 KJV).

The more we place our confidence in the Lord; we build a deeper relationship with Him.

Our confidence grows through faith in Christ. It gives us bold access to God’s presence (Ephesians 3:12 KJV). Our confidence grows the more we read the Word. The more we go to God in prayer.

In this passage, the Lord is inviting us to come to Him in all circumstances. We must come with a humble heart. Passionately pleading for help, mercy, and guidance in times of need.

It can be a request for specific needs. It can be a prayer on behalf of someone else. We can ask for His forgiveness.

“And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us” (1 John 5:14 KJV).

In some things our prayers may be quickly answered. But we must never forget that everything is done “according to His will.”

Our prayers must always be offered in submission to the will of God.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of prayer and the confidence we have in You. We want You to continue to teach us Your will. We know we can get it through the Word. We want our prayers to align with Your heart. Help us to pray for the things that bring You glory. For the things that advance Your kingdom. We will pray in the Words of Christ, “Your will be done.” Thank You for hearing our prayer. For Your perfect plan for our lives.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
