Today’s Reading: Matthew 4:18-22
Today’s Verse: And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. Matthew 4:19 KJV
Lost treasures are a collection of valuable items that have been hidden or lost. They are no longer in the possession of the original owner.
“Treasure hunters” are defined as a group of individuals who actively engage in the search for hidden or lost treasures.
In the Bible we are seen as God’s treasured possession.
We are His “special treasure” (Exodus 19:5; Deuteronomy 14:2 KJV).
He is always looking for those who are lost. Those who need to be found.
That is why He appointed Jesus to be the Lead Treasure Hunter.
When Christ began to preach, he began to gather disciples.
In this passage, Jesus had called on two sets of brothers to follow Him.
When He called on them, He said, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men” (Matthew 4:19 KJV).
They would become hearers and afterwards preachers of His doctrine They would be witnesses of His miracles and afterwards testify concerning them.
They joined Him in the kingdom task of rescuing the treasure of lost souls from Satan, our enemy.
It was a big change from catching fish to being fisher of men and women who were lost in sin.
The same call to take up our cross and follow Jesus is on our lives (Matthew 16:24; Mark 8:34; Luke 9:23 KJV).
To help Him find and claim those who are lost.
Reclaiming lost souls to Christ can be scary.
There will be some who chose not to be found.
The ones we keep in prayer and hope they change their minds.
We cannot let it hinder our faith.
We must keep our eyes on Him.
He indeed is worthy. The One we can follow. The One we call King.
God loves and cares for us all.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Savior, lost treasures are what we are. Some of us have been found. We acknowledge Your call to help find and encourage others through the Word. Just like us, they are Your lost treasure too. We count it an honor to be able to take up the cross and follow You. Thank You for letting us help to change the lives of others around us. To be living testimonies of the love You have for us.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
