Faith Over Fear – Really This is the Greatest Decision

Today’s Reading: 2 Chronicles 20:1, 13-22

Today’s Verse: If, when evil cometh upon us, as the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we stand before this house, and in thy presence, (for thy name is in this house,) and cry unto thee in our affliction, then thou wilt hear and help. 2 Chronicles 20:9 KJV

“Being in the valley.”

That is how some describe the things they are facing in life.

There is extreme fear about what will happen.

The people of Judah felt this way.

They had heard that an invading army was approaching (2 Chronicles 20:2-3 KJV).

King Jehoshaphat acknowledged their fear and prayed for God’s help.

He prayed, “If, when evil cometh upon us, as the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we stand before this house, and in thy presence, (for thy name is in this house,) and cry unto thee in our affliction, then thou wilt hear and help” (2 Chronicles 20:9 KJV).

He knew where all his help would come from. And He was right.

The people even knew where their help would come from.

In the midst of the congregation, the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jahaziel, the son of Zechariah, telling them not to fear. And tomorrow to go up against their enemy. (2 Chronicles 20:14-16 KJV)

He told them, “Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you” (2 Chronicles 20:17 KJV).

They did as they were told.

When the army of Judah arrived at the battlefield, their enemies had already destroyed each other.

By faith, they had received God’s blessings.

God’s people spent three days collecting the abandoned equipment clothing, and valuables.

On the fourth day, before they left, they assembled to praise God for all that He had done.

They even named the place “The Valley of Berakah.” Which means “Blessing.” (2 Chronicles 20: 25-26).

No matter the battles we face in life, the first thing we should do is seek help from God.

Like Jehoshaphat we need to acknowledge the sovereign dominion of the Divine Providence.

The One who sist on high and knows our every need.

Always seeking the Lord and trusting that He is working on our behalf.

That He walks with us through the lowest points in all of our lives.

The Father can and will make it possible for us to discover blessings in the valley.

He has a way of making a way when it seems like there is no way out.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, we humbly come before Your throne. Trusting only in Your mercy and power. Knowing You will help us to not be afraid when we encounter the challenges of life. We know You are the Master of turning burdens into blessings. May we never forget to believe that Your goodness and love will always follow us. To put all our faith in You. Thank You for always being there for us.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
