Read: Luke 15:11-32
And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son. Luke 15:21 KJV
A lost person is someone who is temporarily disoriented and wishes to be found.
Many things can make a person feel lost.
For some it is an awareness of their life not moving in the direction they imagined.
But that it could be better if they took the time to obtain the proper guidance.
In today’s reading we learn about a son who asked his father to give him the portion of goods that belonged to him (v.12 KJV).
The son then willfully gathered all his things and took a journey into a far country.
He began to live a wild and uncontrollable life.
A life that caused him to lose all that he had been given.
His life became one of misery and sadness.
When he had hit the lowest point in his life, he began to come to himself.
A point where he realized the sins and that he needed to change things.
He decided he would go to his father saying, “I have sinned against heaven, and before thee” (v. 18 KJV).
The Lord had opened his eyes and convinced him of his sins.
So much so, he was determined to make it home and change his ways.
When he arrived home, he said, “Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son” (v.21 KJV).
The father received him back with open and forgiving arms.
The same can happen in our lives.
We all can have our moments when we do things the wrong way.
The Lord can open our eyes to all things that are not beneficial for our lives.
His desire is always to keep us from living a sinful life.
It is up to us to view ourselves and our situations in a different light.
It will be the turning point at which time we come to acknowledge our need to change.
To accept God’s offer of forgiveness.
It should be our desire to be clothed in the robe of the Redeemer’s righteousness.
The best covering we could ever have.
Always giving us the desire and grace to walk in the way of holiness.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, there is a turning point in all of our lives. You are always opening our eyes and pointing out our sins. Guiding us on what we need to do to change our ways. The first step being to acknowledge our sins and ask for forgiveness. Asking You to help us turn from our evil ways. Staying determined to follow the leading of the Savior. We want to walk worthy of Your blessings.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
