Fire Isn’t Always Bad

And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the LORD upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever. 2 Chronicles 7:3 KJV

We all know that the word fire usually exemplifies a flame.

The light and heat produced when burning something.

We are warned about fire hazards.

All in an effort to prevent us from causing harm to ourselves, others and our belongings.

But fire can also exemplify something that causes enthusiasm or strong excitement in something.

That is what happened with the children of Israel when God answered Solomon’s prayer.

The Lord manifested himself as an all consuming Fire to sinners.

His fire fell from Heaven and consumed the offerings they had laid out.

The people were taken off guard by this manifestation.

It caused so much excitement in them that they  began to rejoice in Him as their Light.

They bowed down, praised and acknowledged the LORD, for His goodness and mercy.

As we attend church, and go through life, we get excited as we look at the mighty works He has performed all around us.

We may not receive the same majestic response, but we can still see the transforming power of worship that can inhabit our lives.

We will stand in awe, fearing the Lord’s displeasure.

Vowing to sin no more, but to walk in His commandments.

Forever praying to receive His Divine mercy and grace.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Lord, we bow before You in gratitude for who You are. We sing praises to You for Your greatness, power and mercy. May we forever remember how Your Love came down as fire and consumed all our sins.  Thank You Lord.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
