We are engaged in a spiritual war.
In order for us to gain an inner victory of the soul, we must abstain from fleshly lusts and the carnal desires which war against the soul.
This requires us to be able to say “NO” to the things of the flesh that continuously pull at us from many directions. To be able to resist the old sin nature.
It is a battle that every believer is fighting.
We can either respond by faith or react in the flesh.
It is only by the power of the Spirit that we can overcome the external temptations and trials of life.
Giving us the ability to do all that God desires of us.
It is by His power, not our own, that we conquer the ongoing internal lusts of the sin nature.
When we yield to the Spirit of life, we will be victorious.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Lord, we know we can grow in grace and mature in faith when we choose to abstain from fleshly lusts. That this can only happen through the power of Your Spirit. Our spirits are willing, but the flesh is weak. Help us to make the right choices when we are faced with the lusts and desires of the flesh.
