Read: Psalms 23
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
Psalms 23:1 KJV
A Psalm of David.
It was his way of expressing how he felt about the Savior.
His way of showing that he had confidence in God’s grace and care.
From the beginning of the passage, he is teaching us how to express our gratitude for the care that the Father has shown us.
Many of us have memorized this passage but still have a feeling of not being satisfied.
There is a lack of satisfaction with our possessions, status, or situation.
We feel empty.
It is happening because we say He is our “Shepherd,” but we do not follow Him beside the “still waters” and we do not lie down in “green pastures” (Psalms 23:2 KJV).
We allow our circumstances to disturb our souls.
Causing us to wander far from the paths of righteousness.
The path that has the ability to restore us (Psalms 23:3 KJV).
That is when we need to look at our situation.
To get back on the right path.
It is good to know that when we are walking through any of life’s valleys we do not have to fear.
In Him we are never lost in the valley and will safely reach the mountain on the other side.
Remembering that “[His] rod and [His] staff” is always there to comfort, protect and rescue us (Psalms 23:4 KJV).
The more we recognize Him as the great Pastor, Redeemer, and Preserver of all mankind, the more we acknowledge our blessings.
We recognize His goodness and mercies like David did.
Being able to acknowledge that the Father has prepared “a table before [us] in the presence of [our] enemies.”
That He has “anointest [our] head with oil.
And “[our] cup runneth over” (Psalms 23:5 KJV).
Thanking Him because, “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow [us] all the days of [our lives]: and [we] will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever” (Psalms 23:6 KJV).
The Lord is our Shephard.
Past experiences will always remind and teach us to trust in the goodness of God.
To enjoy all the mercies that come to our lives.
He is always there to make sure that we have everything that we need.
Let us never forget to follow His lead.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, unhappiness will always have its way when we fail to follow Your ways. It is good to know that there is enough in the gospel to comfort us. That You are always making a way out of no way. That the Lord can make any situation pleasant. That with the anointing of the Holy Spirit we can find the joy of Your salvation. You are the Shephard. We are the Sheep. Let us never forget that You are always there to comfort, lead and guide us.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
