Great Faith: A Heart Truly Filled with Beneficial Praises

Today’s Reading: Psalms 103:1-5 / Psalms 116:5-9

Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits. Psalms 103:2 KJV

Talking to ourselves is something most of us do every day.

Despite what others may think, it is not a terrible thing.

It is helpful for us to sometimes think aloud.

The conversation we have can help us work through whatever situation we find ourselves in.

The psalmist in Psalms often talked to themselves.

David was one we speak of most.

He would reflect and talk about the various times of his deliverance.

Speaking aloud, expressing his gratitude to God.

He would say things like, “Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits” (Psalms 103:1-2 KJV).

Acknowledging that he knew the Lord was the One who helped him through his situations.

In Psalms 116:7 KJV, he stated, “Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee.”

He was reminding himself of God’s kindness and faithfulness in the past.

Expressing his feelings helped to bring him comfort.

It really helped him in handling what he was presently facing.
“My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him” (Psalms 62:5 KJV).

This was David’s way of declaring where his help had come from.

That he knew where his emotional support and encouragement came from.

David showed us what it means to inspire and encourage ourselves in the Lord.

How it is always good for us to remind ourselves of God’s faithfulness.

Of all the hope we can place in Him.

When we do, we will be encouraged.

It is never a terrible thing to express that we know God is faithful.

To show how grateful we are for all He has done in our lives.

Because we know by the graces and comforts of his Spirit, we will recover from any sin or hardship.

That He will fill us with new life and joy.

With a love that will always fill us with peace.

Today, let us spend some time speaking aloud to the Lord.

Reminding ourselves of the many situations we have faced.

Rejoicing in the great ways God has blessed us.

For all He will do in our lives.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Dear Lord, not a day should go by without us giving You praise. We should always be reminding ourselves of the goodness of our Heavenly Father. About how He can keep us filled with His peace. Like the psalmists, from our hearts let us express that we know You are faithful. That You love us. That You only want what is best for our lives. Thank You for allowing us to speak aloud what is on our hearts. For always listening and responding to our concerns. Thank You.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
