Today’s Reading: Philippians 4:4-9
Today’s Verse: Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Philippians 4:8 KJV
Joy will always be found when we learn to let it outweigh all causes for sorrow.
A Christ-centered life makes it possible.
The apostle Paul constantly urged other Christians, in Philippi, to seek joy in their relationship with Christ.
He told them, “Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice” (Philippians 4:4 KJV).
He wanted them to know that they did not have to live a life full of anxiety or stress.
He encouraged them to pray about everything.
Letting God’s peace guard their hearts and minds in Christ.
That they were to do it with a spirit of thanksgiving (Philippians 4:6-7 KJV).
The same hods true with our lives.
We know that our everyday tasks and responsibilities may not be enjoyable.
They can cause us to feel like all hope is gone.
That joy may never be found.
The recommended remedy for times like these is prayer.
It is the key to changing the way we do things.
The way we feel about them.
We know we can take everything to God in prayer.
Paul’s parting words has great meaning.
“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things” (Philippians 4:8 KJV).
They really give us something to think about.
And when we really think about what they mean, they are words that bring us joy.
The Savior knows our needs better than we do.
Our prayers of thanksgiving show we are thankful.
Thankful for what we receive but also that we value the mercy shown.
It shows we are dependent on Him.
When we put our focus on the Lord, joy will always be found.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, we will always have peace in life through You. We will always find comfort, favor, and hope. It is a peace that will keep our hearts and minds through Christ. Keeping us from sinning in times of trouble or letting things weigh us down. Continue to show us how to find joy in the tasks we face today. We know that through prayer it will come. Thank You for being the joy that is always there for us.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
