Today’s Reading: Lamentations 3:13-26
Today’s Verse: It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23KJV
As children, many of us would often walk to the neighborhood park.
One of the things to play on was a teeter-totter.
A kid would sit at each end of the board and bounce each other up and down.
There would be times when the one that was down would stay there and leave their playmate stuck up in the air. They would be yelling to be let down.
But the most upsetting part was when one friend got off the teeter-totter and ran away while their friend was still in the air.
The friend would come crashing down to the ground with a painful bump.
The friend in pain knew what to expect the next time around and how they would handle it.
There will be times when we feel that Jesus does that to us.
We trust Him to be there with us through all of our ups and downs.
But when life takes a turn and leaves us with bumps and bruises, we may feel as if He has walked away. Leaving our lives to be filled with pain.
The Prophet Jeremiah expressed such feelings.
He wrote that “the steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mecies never come to and end” (Lamentations 3:22 ESV).
He was saying that God is faithful to the end even when everything around us seems to be falling apart.
So, even though we may feel lonely in the midst of our pain, we are not alone.
We may not feel His presence, He is there.
“His compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is [His] faithfulness.”
He will never walk away and let us down.
Jesus is our most trusted friend.
A WORD OF PRAYER
Father, Your compassion does not fail. We experience Your love every morning. When no one else is there for us, You are our most trusted friend. You are always there to remove all pain, misery, and strife. You promised to keep us and never to leave us. You never fall short of Your Word. Thank You that we can trust in Your faithful presence even when we feel we are alone. You are the joy and the strength of our lives.
In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
