Heavenly Willpower: This is the Greatest Thing in Life

Today’s Reading: Romans 8:1-13

Today’s Verse: For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:2 KJV

A person with strong willpower can be described as determined and steadfast in their ways.

They have the ability to delay satisfying their own desires. They resist short-term temptations in order to meet long-term goals.

They learn how to defeat any unwanted thoughts, feelings, or impulses.

As believers we try to reach and maintain spiritual heights by sheer willpower.

But we cannot do it by ourselves.

We are in a daily battle to defeat the law of sin and death.

It is good to know there is a higher law. One that defeats the law of sin and death.

Paul is a witness to this higher law.

He wrote, “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death” (Romans 8:2 KJV).

God sent His “Son, in the likeness of sinful flesh and sin” to condemn it in the flesh.

He did it so that the righteousness of the law could be fulfilled in those of us “who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit” (Romans 8:3-4 KJV).

We are not to live by our own willpower.

Never forget that our earthly spirit will always fail us unless His Holy Spirit truly fills us.

We must fully give ourselves to Christ. Then are we really freed from the law of sin and death.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Savior, we must fully give ourselves to You. It is by Your will and Your way that we must live. Then are we really freed from the law of sin and death. We give our lives to the living Spirit of Christ within us. Always maintaining an attitude of dependence on You. We know that our union with You, through faith, will always keep us safe. Thank You keeping us safe from sin. For cleansing us from unrighteousness.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
