His Gate: Life Better When You Really Stand Listening

Today’s Reading: Jeremiah 7:1-11

Today’s Verse: Stand in the gate of the LORD’S house, and proclaim there this word, and say, Hear the word of the LORD, all ye of Judah, that enter in at these gates to worship the LORD. Jeremiah 7:2 KJV

When we speak words of comfort it is a positive declaration intended to give someone confidence.

It is said to bring confidence in one’s own abilities.

A belief in oneself.

When we decided to give our lives to God, we were saying we had confidence in the Word.

That the Word is what we choose to live by.

Each day when we wake up, we must keep it our goal to turn away from sin.

To not hide behind the grace of God, saying that we are Christians and continue to live in secret sin.

In this passage, Jeremiah told all of Judah to “Hear the word of the Lord” (Jeremiah 7:2 KJV).

The Word has told us that none can claim an interest in free salvation when they allow themselves to engage in the practice of known sin.

We can all ask ourselves the same questions Jeremiah posed to the people that were listening to him.

He asked them, “Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not?”

“And come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, We are delivered to do all these abominations?” (Jeremiah 7:9-10 KJV).

The answer should be “No.”

We must take note of our ways daily.

Remembering that the Son of God gave Himself for our transgressions.

He did it to show the excellence of the Divine law, and the evil of sin.

And as Apostle Paul stated, “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?”

“If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are” (1 Corinthians 3:16-17).

In all that we do, never let us think we may do wickedness without suffering for it.

So when we hear the Word, it is an encouragement for us to continue in His grace.

A WORD OF PRAYER

Father, we know that Jesus gave Himself for our transgressions. That He did it to show the excellence of the Divine law, and the evil of sin. That to hear the Word is the best way for us to understand what is seen as a sin by You. Making it were we never think we may do wickedness without suffering for it. We are thankful that You love us so much to let us continue on the wrong path. Your correction is never meant to harm us. It is to heal us. Thank You for being a God of comfort.

In Jesus Name We Pray, Amen
